Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP)
Every five years, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) leads the development of a comprehensive outdoor recreation plan to maintain eligibility for funding through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and to inform additional investments from other federal, state, local and private programs. Given the significance of outdoor recreation in the state, SCORP is much more than a federal requirement for funding. This plan reflects the shared vision and commitment of Colorado outdoor partners to advance recreation enjoyment and conservation of Colorado’s outdoor resources.

Colorado's Outdoor Strategy
Colorado's Outdoors Strategy ensures a future where our people, outdoors, community character, and ways of life endure for generations to come. The Outdoors Strategy is the first ever for the state and the first state to have a comprehensive strategy for conservation and outdoor recreation. Colorado’s Outdoors Strategy advances coordination, tools, and funding to align, prioritize, and implement strategic actions on the landscape for conservation, outdoor recreation, and climate resilience. The Strategy champions shared goals, strengthens partnerships, catalyzes statewide leadership, and amplifies regionally rooted efforts to address significant and urgent pressures to the outdoors.

Colorado's State Wildlife Action Plan
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is proud to announce that the newly revised 2025 State Wildlife Action Plan was submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to support Colorado’s biodiversity and guide the conservation of the state’s most vulnerable species and habitats.

The Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) list is the centerpiece of the SWAP. The interactive dashboard includes all species assessed for the SWAP. There’s also a Data Hub which contains information about Tier 1 and Tier 2 vertebrate and plant species of greatest conservation need and their habitats. Check out CPW SWAP to explore species and habitat profiles, threats affecting these resources, existing plans and monitoring efforts and conservation actions. Bonus: lots of great photos of some of Colorado’s very photogenic species!
